Our Changing Society
The current state of the spa/salon industry is one that continues to increase in demand and represent a high-growth industry with ever-changing advances in technology. Since 2003, marketing studies have estimated that approximately $10 billion dollars annually is attributed to spa/salon services and has been growing at a 5.5% rate annually. *Spa revenue nationwide surpassed domestic box office receipts for theater movies in 2005, posting $9.7 billion compared to $9 billion. Statistics gathered by the International Spa Association show.

We are now in a high-tech, high-touch world...consumers are demanding knowledgeable, highly skilled professionals to perform their hair care, skin and body care services. Consumers' main needs are to look professional, well-groomed and more youthful. Spa/salons that diversify to offer personalized packages tend to out perform others. Additionally, salons must offer services at more convenient times. Between stress, aging, and time constraints, women, and an increasing rate of men, are demanding more and more spa/salon services.

Cosmetic Surgery Trends

Americans spent approximately $12.4 billion on cosmetic procedures last year. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, (ASAPS), nearly 11.5 million cosmetic surgical and non-surgical procedures were performed in the United States in 2006, according to statistics released by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). The Aesthetic Society, which has been collecting multi-specialty procedural statistics since 1997, says the overall number of cosmetic procedures has increased 446 % since the collection of the statistics first began.

Studies show the number of Americans over 55 will grow by 60% in the next 20 years and their buying power will exceed $2 trillion by 2007. As other socio-economic conditions continue to change, the spa/salon industry will continue to see an increase in demand for services offered. Changes is excited to offer scientifically proven and safe processes to deliver results comparable to that of cosmetic surgery without the risks, downtime, and more importantly cost.

The United States, as a country, spends over $40 billion annually on weight loss products and services. Studies show that 90% of people have issues with their body that result in mental and/or physical health concerns. What Americans seek is a fast, effective, affordable, painless, no side-effect, and easy-to-maintain method to get their bodies restored to a youthful healthy state.
Quick Fact
Since the mid-seventies, the prevalence of overweight and obesity has increased sharply for both adults and children. Data from two surveys show that among adults aged 20-74 years, the prevalence of obesity increased from 15.0% (in the 1976-1980 survey) to 32.9% (in the 2003-2004 survey). IF this trend continues, it is estimated that 75% of Americans will be considered obese by 2015.
